Site Plan
Xitou VIlliage is a thousand-year-old traditional villiage in China which can be traced back to Song Dynasty. The village with beautiful landscape retains complete historical village style, spatial texture, ancient streets pattern, ancient buildings and bridges. Unique village culture and water system in Huizhou culture have been passed so far. One of the most important historical element here is Xitou Old Street. However, the once prosperous commercial street is decrepit now as a result of rapid urbanization. Morover, some infrastructure can no longer be used due to the lack of modern facilities.
Environmental Analysis

This project chooses Xitou Old Street and its surrounding areas as main sites to design, so the environmental analysis including wind, comfort of street, sun hours could provide scientific reference data for the later design process.

The components conbine to form modules, their connections are surface contact. Three types of components combine in multiple directions, then they forming the basic modules, which can provide support for subsequent stick jointing.

In the preliminary design, I determine the direction of processing, then these groups composed of components form a organization. The organization will have certain fuctions, such as lingking spaces as a bridge and enriching spaces as a pavilion, solving some problrms for the villiage.

Construction VR Simulator



This is a project that I hope to improve the spatial experience of the Xitou village from the perspective of protecting historical elements. By using modern technology, I analyzed problems exisiting in the traditional village, then start with component geometry study, finding the most suitable geometry that grow in this project.
Then I used processing DLA to design some buildings and installations which make full use of the local rich bamboo and wood resources , aiming to help the village more adapt to modern life. These objects are like penetrating in corners of the village and continuing to grow.
